Edward Aston

Edward Aston is yet another oldtime strongman who retired undefeated, after he won the Britain’s Strongest Man title in 1911. He actually defeated Thomas Inch in a challenge match and kept his record for the next 23 years! Aston’s grip strength was out of this world, as he managed to lift 496 lbs on a 2.25 inch thick bar using an overhand grip. Pretty damn impressive if you ask me!

Below we can see a couple of interesting exercises for grip strength which you can try out at your own home.

If you are serious about improving your grip strength (and we all should be), Aston’s book “How to Develop a Powerful Grip” is a must-read.
