Earlier on in this series on visualization, I talked about how when it comes to fitness, the visual and the kinesthetic (aka the feelings) dominate.
This makes sense in that form and competition that is often judged visually is a big piece.
And then it is all about the movement of the body. You certainly feel your muscles working.
When it comes to visualization, those two are king. But that would make the auditory channel queen.
So often neglected, but comes at a great cost.
I give credit to Matti Marzel for this idea. Many years back, at the Wizards of Strength Workshop, I led him through some visualization exercises, which led him to doubling the number of index-finger-and-thumb-only fingertip handstand pushups he could do. The video of that is still available inside Instant Exercise Enhancers.
An important piece of that visualization that came from his imagination was hearing the roar of the arena around him, like being a gladiator at the Colosseum.
All cheering for you!
It’s a potent visualization that you can try out for yourself here.
It certainly makes me feel all tingly and strong.
Use it and I’d love to hear your results.
It’s a great technique, and there are a great many more like it in the full Visualizations Made Easy program available here. Of note, this program also includes a version of the visualization that led to Matti having the roar of the arena emerge from his subconscious, which has to do with the use of “time traveling”.
