How to hold a handstand for a long time?
As you can see in the video above, I didn’t really hold it for a long time, but what exactly is considered a long time? For someone who is just starting out, 10 seconds is awesome whereas for others it might be a minute or like five, ten minutes or even longer.
So, what does it take to be able to do this for at least 30 seconds? Practice! It’s quite advanced exercise which requires fine balancing skills that you need to train for some time before being able to hold it for more than a few seconds. Just like when you were learning to stand on your legs as a kid – it really takes time even if you don’t remember it. But standing on your hands is even tougher, so you need to practice regularly.
If you are just starting out, don’t go right into the handstand training. Try to master exercises like a frogstand and headstand before you even attempt to do or hold a handstand freestanding. As you make progress, you’ll develop fine balancing skills using your fingers, hands and shoulders to help you cope with balance issues.
