The rear neck lift and the rear neck roll are two exercises that I’ve never really seen covered elsewhere.
The first is an isometric (either a hold or with added force) and the other is a moving neck exercise. Watch them here.
Text neck is about forward flexion as well as protraction of the neck.
That means, we want to make sure to move in opposition to that. Not just with mobility, but building strength too. The rear neck lift works wonders for protraction.
Note that this is an intermediate exercise. Advanced when you start progression with it.
Not only do you have the rear neck lift, but you also have the rear neck roll.
Instead of a hold, this is a dynamic movement. Again, there are several ways to progress with it.
Both are amazing, and have fast become some of my favorite neck training exercises.
But it’s definitely not beginner stuff. My guess is that most people reading this could not do this exercise on the first try.
You’ll need to build up a stronger foundation to get to this one. The good news is that foundation can be built quite easily.
The video is straight from Supple Strength Neck Training.
