Otto Acron is a strongman from Australia who was born on May 12 1935. As a young boy, Otto read Captain Marvel and Superman comics and that’s what initially pushed him towards feats of strength.
At the age of 14 Otto sustained a serious brain injury while boxing in a friendly match and it was a full year before he recovered completely.During this period he had a lot of time to think about his life & goals and that’s when he decided to commit to training in order to perform various feats of strength.
Five years after the recovery, Otto Acron started working as a circus strongman in New South Wales where he fulfilled his dreams while breaking chains, bending metal and boxing from time to time. The first serious job offer came from Bullen Circus, but with a special requirement – he had to carry 1000 pounds horse up 14ft ladder to get this job. He did it and later this became one of his most popular stunts.
His career as a modern strongman started after a tug of war stunt with two airplanes at Rotterdam Airport.
He also took a number of titles, like Mr. Southern Hemisphere, Mr. Sydney, Mr. Oceania and Mr. Australia. A couple of years later he won the Australian state champion for the 82.5kg class. Otto organized a fund raiser at the age of 70, for a child who needed a motorized wheel chair, and managed to do 1125 push ups in less than 30 minutes for this cause.
