For athletes you’ll love the increased energy and recovery effects. Your ATP replenishes itself faster. The energy augmenting effects were on par with Coenzyme Q10.

What do all these effects come from? Hard to say exactly. But shilajit does have lots of minerals including the trace ones in ionic form. It’s full of humic and fulvic acids which are amazing molecules themselves worthy of their own video. It’s loaded with triterpenes and many other compounds. As more research is done in the future they’re likely to isolate individual substances within shilajit and attribute the benefits to those. For now take it and enjoy the holistic effects.
Be warned that not all shilajits are created equal. Depending on the extraction and purification method, as well as where it comes from the quality can differ widely. According to Sushruta Samhita there are six types of shilajit based on the stone it comes out of as well as types from their locations.
Shilajit will range in color from different shades of brown to black. It’s commonly assumed that black is best but this is not always the case. For those of you looking for raw shilajit the effects have been research to be better in processed shilajit.
The standard dosage of shilajit is 250mg to 500mg per day. It has been noted to have no side effects up to 3 grams per kilogram of weight in rats. The only real contraindication seems to be with gout.
