Co-founder of the International Federation of Bodybuilders, Joe Weider, was a bodybuilder born in 1919 most famous for publishing numerous fitness magazines, like “Shape”, “Muscle & Fitness” and “Flex”.
When he was only 14 years old, Weider started “Your Physique” magazine and constructed a set of barbells with things he could obtain cheaply – car wheels and axles. That same year, his family founded Weider Nutrition which was the first company of its kind in the world. This company still exist today with a different name – Schiff Nutrition International.
Joe Weider became very recognized in the fitness world after publishing numerous magazines and fitness courses (like The Weider System of Bodybuilding) in the early 1950’s. During his lifetime, Weider found the time to write numerous books like “Gaining Weight is Easy”, “A Massive Chest For You”, “Muscle Building Course of the Champions”, “Joe Weider’s Ultimate Bodybuilding ” and many more.
Josef Edwin “Joe” Weider died this year (2013) on March 23 after a heart failure at the age of 93.
