Early on in the life of the Mighty Atom he was a very sickly child. He ended up running away to join the circus and was tutored by the strongman and wrestler Volanko.

As Volanko finished with his morning regimen and headed back toward the wagon, Yosselle nestled under his blanket as if asleep. Volanko walked straight away to his cot and shook him.
“Get up, my friend. Enough sleep.”
“What time is it?” The boy clung to his blankets.
“Very late. It’ll be dawn in an hour. This is the best time.”
“For what?”
“For everything,” the wrestler said.
Out they went, a bundled Yosselle still hunching his shoulders in the cold. “I’m hungry,” he protested.
“Later. Now is the time to breathe. Go ahead.”
The boy inhaled thinly, exhaled an asthmatic wheeze, then coughed.
“Tsk, tsk…terrible. You cheat yourself, little friend. The air is free. Look, like this.” Volanko sucked in air through his nose while bringing his hands together over his head. Then he exhaled through his mouth and pumped his arms, working his lungs like a bellows. “Breathing is life, Yosselle. Without air, the fire dies. Now try again.”
The boy tried to imitate him, and Volanko close one eye with a pained expression as his emaciated valet pulled away. “No, no, you’ll faint if you do that. Slowly…relax…” The boy tried again. “Yes, more like that.”
“How long do I have to do this?” the boy asked gasping.
“For the rest of your life,” Volanko replied.

There are two main things here I want to focus on.
The first of course, is breathing exercises.
I remember when I first got started in physical culture how important a part these played in my development. Every morning I would do exercises just like Volanko described as well as others (like the vacuum which is phenomenal for so many reasons).
Why is this so important?
The breathing exercises themselves are great. But perhaps even more important is setting up the HABIT of deep breathing.
By consciously practicing deep breathing your body will begin to do it on its own.
As most people breathe too shallow, it’s no wonder they lack energy, vitality and strength.
Now, I know that some people ignorantly say, “I know how to breathe, I don’t need to do exercises for that.”
But let me ask you, just because you can run or can have sex, does that mean you can’t get any better at those things?
Secondly, I want to address the idea of a morning routine.
I love that Volanko says it is the best time for everything. A morning routine that builds your health and sets you up for the day is an amazing thing.
One thing worth having is breathing exercises.
And there are several other movements and much more you can do.
In fact, I put a full program together on the subject called How to Feel Like a Billion Dollars.
Just like Volanko transformed the health and strength of young Yosselle, setting him up to become The Mighty Atom, this course can help transform you.
And as a limited time special enter the coupon code ‘ATOM’ and you can take $100 off.
Check out the full details here.
P.S. Another quote from Volanko, “Master low and high breathing, and you control the brain, the heart, and the other organs. All bodily power comes from the breath.”
Want to become strong? Want to become healthy? The breath is the place to start. And the best place to start that is in your morning routine…

Posture is a big part of this as well. Most people are hunched over to one extent or another, and breathing correctly combined with good posture is essential.
